PROGRAM 7 DAYS, 6 NIGHT

DAY ONE Bangkok – Lampang – Tha Ma-O Community
AFTERNOON Representatives from Tha Ma-O Community will take you from Lampang Airport to Tha Ma-O Community. Check in at Bann Som-O Homestay
EVENING Enjoy a traditional Khan Tok-style dinner and welcome performances from local youths.

Leisure time for the rest of the evening.

DAY TWO Tha Ma-O Community – Cultural Road
MORNING Go on a bike ride from the homestay to look for breakfast, such as Kuay Tiew Pa Mai, the famous, long-running noodle restaurant of Tha Ma-O Community.

Enjoy some refreshing drinks and tasty desserts at Yim: Cafe & Dessert Bar or Jojo’s Coffee Art. Make a stop at Tha Ma-O Community Center, in front of Wat Pratu Pong. Pay your respects to the Buddha statue inside the monastery. Other morning activities include

– Learning how to cook Kaeng Hang Le with a local chef.

– Making Tung Phaya Yor (paper hanging mobiles) which require concentration and creativity.

NOON Lunch.
AFTERNOON Ride a bike and explore the 100-year-old wooden houses such as Louis House, Ban Roi Pi and Ban Sao Nak. See a horse-drawn carriage assembly demonstration at Lampang Horse Carriage Association.
EVENING Take a stroll and shop for local arts, handicrafts and souvenirs along the 500-meter-long Cultural Road. Enjoy live music and local performances while tasting local dishes. The Cultural Road is open only on Friday evenings.
DAY THREE Tha Ma-O Community – Horse Carriage Trip
MORNING Make offerings to the monks and so some early morning shopping at Ratsadaphisek Market (Kat Hua Khua). Take photos at Ratsadaphisek Bridge or ride a bike to see the street art near the Wang River.

Enjoy breakfast.

Switch from bike to horse-drawn carriage at Ban Tha Kao Muang. Feed horses with bananas, watch a horseshoe-making demonstration, sword dance performance and paint your own horseshoe at Ban Ma Tha Nam.

Take a horse-drawn carriage to explore old houses. Pay respect to the Sanctuary of the Thousand Buddhas, Phra That Si Chom Khlai and Phra Buddha Saiyat statue at Wat Pong Sanuk Nuea. Visit Heed Tham Museum, Kat Kong Ta Market, Wat Sri Rong Muang, Wat Chiang Rai and City Pillar Shrine.

NOON Lunch at Ban Tha Kao Muang.
AFTERNOON Creative activities, which include making Dok Phueng (flower decorations) which can be used as an offering to Lord Buddha.

Ride your bike to Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram. Pay respect and offer Dok Phueng to Phra Kaew Don Tao Buddha statue. Explore the wooden sanctuary and learn about the origins of this temple.

EVENING Learning activities at Ban Tha Kao Muang, including cooking Nam Prik Ong (spicy chili dip) / Khanom Pad.

Dinner at the accommodation.

DAY FOUR Tha Ma-O Community – Lampang Museum – Kat Kong Ta
MORNING Take a stroll through Kat Hua Khua / Ratsadaphisek Market and shop for a freshly-made breakfast snack.

Breakfast at the accommodation.

Visit Lampang Museum to learn the area’s history through digital media.

NOON Lunch at I YA Pungnom.
AFTERNOON Learning activities at Ban Tha Kao Muang, where you’ll make Suay Kab (or cone-shaped floral arrangements) as an offering to monks the next morning.
EVENING Ride a bike to explore street art and old wooden houses at Kat Kong Ta. Explore the old wooden sermon hall at Wat Ko Walukaram and Ratsadaphisek Bridge.

Dinner at Chen Yentafo.

DAY FIVE Tha Ma-O Community – Pha Pak Thong, Ban Cham Pui
MORNING Make sure you dress respectfully as you’ll be heading to Ban Cham Pui, a tourist destination close to Tha Ma-O Community, where you can pay your respects to highly-revered Maha Chedi Phutthakhaya at Wat Chong Kham.

Taste local Lu Mien-style appetizers.

After driving up, continute on foot to Pha Pak Tong, the peak of a limestone mountain that affords stunning 360-degree views.

NOON Enjoy your lunch in Khao Ho Bai Khiao (rice wrapped in leaves) style.
AFTERNOON Head back down part of the mountain on foot, exploring the 13,000-year-old rock paintings at Pratu Pa.

Sip some fresh tea and coffee around Mae Moh Power Plant.

Head back to Tha Ma-O Community via road.

EVENING Dinner at the accommodation.
DAY SIX Tha Ma-O Community
MORNING Offering food and your handmade Suay Kab to the monks making their early morning procession.

Breakfast at the accommodation.

Learning activity: Cook Khai Pam (Eggs on banana leaves)

NOON Lunch.
AFTERNOON Creative activity: Make your own candle (which supposedly can held get rid of bad fortune).
EVENING Enjoy a traditional Khan Tok dinner at the accommodation.

Light the candle with your date of birth included before going to bed. This ritual is meant to bring good fortune before going back to Bangkok.

DAY SEVEN Tha Ma-O Community – Thanabodi Ceramic Museum – Khua Tae – Bangkok
MORNING Breakfast and check out.

Travel to Thanabodi Ceramic Museum.

Workshop: Ceramic painting before heading into explore the Thanabodi Ceramic Museum (9 AM).

Visit Wat Phra That Sandon Bamboo Bridge (Khua Tae).

NOON Lunch at Green Garden Café.
AFTERNOON Say goodbye at Lampang Bus Terminal / Lampang Airport before making your way back to Bangkok.
